This week, I have a chat with Starla Sampaco about what drew her interest to help others with their careers. She speaks about her journey and provides some advice for the younger generation.

Starla Sampaco is the host of Crosscut Now on KCTS 9 (Seattle's PBS Station). She is also the host and producer of her own series, Career Survival Guide. Starla strives to find opportunities and help young women and people of color navigate career challenges.

This week I talk about how to stand out. With a crowded environment of talent, how do you stand out among your peers and everyone else that's trying to achieve the next level in your industry? I break it down to four simple things that you can start tomorrow.

Being in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic has been a hard time for everyone. Regardless of your situation, the current times have been filled with sadness and uncertainty. I wanted to bring up something optimistic. This is the perfect time to find your opportunity. With problems arising in nearly every industry, now is the time to build your brand as being part of the solution. I want to answer three questions. What is opportunity? How do I take advantage of these events? Why are they important?

I also share an experience I had when this all clicked for me.
