Fourteen year old Milly, her newly widowed mother and brother move into a new home after the death of her father. She quickly notices the quirky boy next door, Eric, and his odd "flying behavior" - piecing together his story to try and understand him. Regardless of others dismissive attitudes, the more Milly learns, the more she tries to make a connection with him. When an institute with a mission to lock up Eric and threaten his freedom is after him, Milly's English teacher asks her to keep an eye out for Eric, the two create a close bond . A rumor follows Eric that he can fly and this might be his only way to stay free.
