One of the hardest truths Iâve had to face is that people donât experience my intentions, they experience my behavior.
There was a season of my life when I lived in chronic survival mode, and although my heart was usually in the right place, the people around me often had to look past my reactions to see it.
Eventually I realized that asking people to constantly interpret my intentions wasnât fair, and if I cared about my relationships, I needed to understand what was actually driving my behavior.
If you see yourself in any of that then check out this episode, where we unpack:
Where our stress comes from, how it turns into survival mode, and how it impacts the way we relate to others.
1:08 - My Own Survival Mode Story
4:40 - How Survival Mode Actually Works
5:20 - The Real Source of Stress
6:15 - Why Symptom Management Isnât Enough
8:00 - When People Constantly Have to Make Excuses For You
10:35 - The Two Forces Shaping Your Perception
12:00 - Why We Misjudge Ourselves
13:25 - The Root of Chronic Internal Conflict
15:50 - Whatâs Required for True Transformation
18:00 - Final Challenge
Do you remember who you wanted to be before you started checking all the boxes?
In this episode, we explore why so many of us spend years chasing achievement, only to discover that success still doesnât feel fulfilling.
Together, weâll examine how the standards weâve inherited shape the way we evaluate ourselves, and why those standards often conflict with the unique way God designed us.
Youâll learn about the two forces that shape our experience of work, and how we often mistake burnout, frustration, or lack of motivation as personal failure, when itâs not the real culprit.
Weâll also explore why discovering your core priorities is one of the most important steps toward meaningful work, faithful stewardship, and lasting fulfillment.
Itâs not about becoming someone else - itâs learning to understand the person God created you to be.
So if youâve ever felt successful on paper, but empty in practice, this episode is for you:
02:40 - Why gratitude, hard work, and achievement donât always produce fulfillment.
05:18 - Maybe Youâre Solving the Wrong Problem

08:18 - Why Your Job May Feel Draining
11:48 - From Self-Judgment to Stewardship

16:57 - Where Real Fulfillment Begins
What if your greatest leadership challenge isnât actually a leadership problem?
In this episode, we explore why even the most capable leaders can find themselves stuck in cycles of frustration, control, defensiveness, burnout, or self-doubt,
Weâll look at why personality assessments and leadership training are valuable but incomplete, how pressure exposes the places where God still wants to do His deepest work in us, and why the relationship we have with ourselves quietly shapes every relationship we have with those we lead.
Most importantly, Iâll walk you through practical examples that will help you recognize how hidden assumptions, violated expectations, and unexamined interpretations influence your leadership long before any leadership skill has the opportunity to help.
Because before we can lead others more effectively, we must first learn to see ourselves more truthfully.
Weâll cover why leadership often feels harder than it should by talking through:
03:32 â Why leadership exposes whatâs happening inside us

Most parents spend a lot of time thinking about communication strategies, discipline methods, boundaries, and routines.
But what if our children are experiencing something even more influential than our parenting techniques?
In this episode, I explore how the relationship we have with ourselves shapes the way we relate to our children, often without us realizing it. We unpack where distorted perceptions come from, why so many parents struggle with guilt, frustration, and unrealistic expectations, and how our unexamined beliefs can unintentionally be projected onto the people we love most.
Weâll also explore why Jesus emphasized childlike faith, what the Pharisees reveal about the dangers of rigid thinking, and why humility and teachability are essential for both spiritual growth and healthy parenting.
Because the goal isnât to become a perfect parent.
Itâs to become a more self-aware, truth-seeking, and teachable one.
And that begins by examining the relationship that underpins every other interaction: the relationship we have with ourselves.
In This Episode We Cover:
00:00 â The Thing No Parent Wants to HearYour children are experiencing more than your parenting techniques, theyâre experiencing your relationship with yourself.
03:10 â Children Experience More Than Parenting MethodsWhy kids absorb far more than our rules, routines, and discipline strategies.
05:34 â We Project Our Relationship With Ourselves Onto Our ChildrenHow self-criticism, perfectionism, and unmet expectations become relational patterns.
06:16 â Distortions Arenât the ProblemWhy every parent has blind spots, and why awareness, not condemnation, is the goal.
07:08 â Where Distorted Perceptions Come FromThe two factors shaping our self-perception: inherited standards and lived priorities.
10:50 â A Parenting Example of Hidden FrictionHow conflicting priorities and expectations create unnecessary frustration and self-judgment.
11:52 â What Is a Distortion?Defining distortion, moralization, and why defended interpretations become generational patterns.
12:58 â What Children Actually NeedWhy humility, correction, repair, and truthfulness matter more than perfection.
13:53 â Childlike Faith vs. Pharisee ThinkingWhat Jesusâ teaching reveals about teachability, humility, and the danger of rigid perception.
15:23 â Three Everyday Parenting ScenariosThe broken glass, the poor grade, and the emotional meltdown, and what each reveals about perception.
18:04 â Why This Matters SpirituallyHow our relationship with ourselves becomes a relational inheritance and shapes how we love others.

21:26 â The Core Priorities SnapshotUsing lived evidence to identify distortions and better understand yourself.
21:42 â The Goal Isnât PerfectionWhy one of the greatest gifts we can give our children is modeling what it looks like to remain teachable.

Most people know Jesus said weâre supposed to love others as ourselves, but have you ever stopped to consider what that actually assumes?
It assumes we already have a healthy relationship with ourselves.
In this episode, I explore the one relationship we never escape: the relationship we have with ourselves.
Together, weâll unpack why so many of us struggle with insecurity, comparison, emotional reactivity, relational conflict, and chronic dissatisfaction despite years of personal growth, self-discovery, and self-improvement.
Weâll examine the difference between self-focus and self-love, why modern self-awareness often falls short, and how many of us unknowingly misinterpret ourselves through inherited standards, distorted assumptions, emotional experiences, and incomplete information.
Iâll also share why our relationship with ourselves becomes the lens through which we interpret everyone else - including God - and how that affects our leadership, emotional stability, decision-making, communication, relationships, and ability to live out our faith.
Most importantly, weâll explore why truthful self-awareness requires more than introspection. It requires learning how to evaluate ourselves through the evidence our lives are already revealing so we can begin replacing distortion with truth.
Because when we learn to see ourselves more clearly, we become better equipped to love others the way Jesus calls us to.
In This Episode We Cover:
02:34 â Why self-love and self-focus are not the same thing
02:34 â The hidden flaw in modern self-awareness culture
06:08 â How we project our relationship with ourselves onto others
05:05 â What 1 Corinthians 13 reveals about loving ourselves biblically
07:19 â Why perception - not intention - often dictates behavior
07:32 â The connection between self-understanding and leadership
07:58 â How distorted perceptions affect our relationship with God
09:19 â Why objective evidence creates deeper self-awareness than introspection alone

Together weâll explore the concept of âself-misinterpretationâ as the hidden root of emotional reactivity, relational conflict, chronic self-condemnation, vocational frustration, and spiritual confusion, and why traditional âknow yourselfâ approaches often fall short and how truthful self-awareness begins by examining the evidence your life is already revealing.
