The Brazen Altar

Listen Later

Heb 9:24 this is reminding that it didn't involve God as a being but just as a symbolic figures.

The Bronzen Altar was 8ft wide and 8ft long, square and stood 5ft tall. Just a church, it's setup for sin to be brought up to God. The church is open just the gate for any and all. There was no steps to the altar, it was not allowed. Christ was a type of this altar. We have an altar where we bring our burdens. Christ was crucified on a hill, no steps in order to get there. Once He was at the top He was sacrificed. The common person could go to the altar but no further. The person with the sin would make the sacrifice and would lay their hands on the sacrifice to transfer their sin to the sacrifice. While this happened the priest would then kill the animal and capture it's blood. Then the blood would then be poured around the altar for the remission of the persons sin. Imagine Christ as He was whipped and His flesh was torn. Walking to His cross leaving a trail of His blood all the way. Then when they nailed Him to the cross as His blood drained down the cross. The fire in the altar was to never go out. God started the fire and just like John the Baptist said about being baptized, it's a fire that will never go out. Once you're saved, God will put a fire deep down in your soul that will never go out. If you want your fire to grow and get hotter, find yourself at the foot of Jesus. Calvary was outside the city, the Holy Place. Sacrifice is something anyone can do and anywhere. An altar is a place where one allows things to be given up. The great thing about today's altars is that there is no shedding of blood because it's already been given. Heb 9:1-15 we should go to the cross (altar) and bear it. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ then you MUST identify with the cross. Could we pick you to pattern how to praise God? Rom 12:1 at the altar we should become a living sacrifice. What have you been bringing God to altar? Only the best could be brought to the altar, no second best. Christ walked up the ramp with the altar on His back and gave Himself as the sacrifice that would forever pay the sin debt for all that would accept it.
