Poetry may be one of the most challenging genres in all of literature. For centuries poets graced taught and encapsulated the soul of humanities history, but eventually the novel took the place of the classical large epic. However, Danny and the Tsar are not about to give a rudimentary lesson on the evolution of poetry, oh no, that would take far too long. What the Tsar aims to do today is spur on the trepidatious reader into taking a leap of faith into the genre. Danny and the Tsar discuss their history with the genre - which was a stern loathing to beginning with - and how eventually the Tsar returned and found his spirit had blossomed into a love for the media. Through his journey the Tsar hopes to bring light to some of his favorites, criticize the some of the greats, and give the general reader an avenue to begin their own journey. This episode is about the basics of 'trying' to find the right poetry, not the nightmarish lesson your English teacher gives in high school. May we all blossom on The Broken Shelf.
