The Broken Shelf

The Broken Shelf 172: Shounen

Listen Later

[Warning] This episode contains explicit language and explicit themes. Listener discretion is advised.
Unlike the prescribed genre, Danny and Travis are going to try and get out all their ideas in one episode without long screaming fits, cut aways, training arcs, time skips, and transformations. Despite those listed things, there is a reason the shounen genre in Japanese media continues to dominate. There is something intrinsic in the values that hold the genre at the height of power and give birth to the hype and imagination of thousands across the world and not just Japan. Danny and Travis talk about their introduction to the genre, the goods and bads, why it continues to work, and some of their favorite products from the genre. Get ready for a lot of laughs, and even a heated debate over a certain super hero anime. Enjoy as the brothers get a little hot blooded.
