They discuss buying a classic car and maintaining it along with what cars will be the next classic cars and how to choose the car for you.

If you take on classic car restoration you can face challenges with getting parts and there are things you need to know such as how paint is now technically different to how it was in the past. Reliability is always a factor and Shahzad discusses the most and least reliable cars out there and shares his views on the cars that will be the new classics and continue to appreciate in value.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Any petrol car is going to be a good investment for the future.
  • Scrappage schemes and taxes on older cars mean there aren't so many about any more.
  • The sort of car you could buy a few years ago for under a grand just don't exist anymore.
  • It will come down to the last car standing
  • When you look at bigger cars they are technically complicated
  • You have to go older to find longevity because cars weren't so complicated then so can be maintained.
  • The type of paint has changed so anything resprayed is obvious.
  • The best supercar out there for reliability is the Audio R8
  • Lamborghini, now owned by Audio have gone from one of the least to one of the most reliable supercars
  • The Classic car genre is the one to watch at the moment.
  • Eighties cars are going up in value dramatically they are becoming very desirable
  • It's important to relate to the car, have you always like the look of the car and wanted one?
  • are they going up in value?
  • I'm predicting that eighties muscle cars will go up in value and become more desirable.
  • Electric cars are being forced on us but there is not the infrastructure in place to make them viable.
  • They are not the ultimate solution; we have to look at things more intelligently this is not possible and there remain a lot of unanswered questions.

BEST MOMENTS

‘The nineties cult classics including the Capri remain desirable'

‘If I was looking for  a car under £5,000 I'd be looking at a Japanese car'

‘We started car meets in Dubai in 2010'
