It is ambitious and contains several stunning scenes, particularly the opening sequence with the Statue of Liberty. Brody, as usual, is powerful. The score is also impressive. The film has an enormous sweep, however I believe there are some superfluous moments scattered throughout. I didn't believe all of the sex scenes were required, or at least overly long. There were several other interstitial shots that were excessive. I didn't particularly enjoy Pearce's performance. Although he is portraying an unlikable guy, there is an artificiality to his delivery and mannerisms that I did not enjoy here.
