If you’ve ever built your own PC, if you’ve ever had to ‘nuke and pave’ your Windows install, if you’ve been a PC gamer for any length of time, or if you’re in any way/shape/form a coder, I cannot stress this enough: Linux is now better than Windows.

A spiritual successor to System Shock 2 and helmed by Ken Levine of Irrational Games, BioShock tells a compelling narrative. It’s the kind of story that only a video game could tell, an irony only a ludonarrative could illustrate, and a warning we should’ve heeded a long time ago.

I love BioShock and I’m really excited to release my retrospective article. I’m also nervous about it in a way I’ve never been nervous about anything before.

Here’s something cool: my friend Peter gave me a Steam Link and Steam Controller.

He had intended on using them to stream games from his office PC to his living room TV… and then never got around to it. This was back when Valve discontinued them both and they were offering a steep discount to clear their inventory. The sale was in 2018, so these devices have sat unopened on his shelf for the better part of a decade.

With that being the case and, considering the new upcoming Steam hardware, I figured now would be a great time to open these up and give ’em a spin.
