Even within the ultra-niche world of underground dance music, Scott Zacharias isn’t a household name. Those who have had the pleasure of seeing him play, though, don’t soon forget it. A founding member of Detroit’s Macho City crew and a yearly highlight of Movement weekend’s infamous No Way Back all-nighter, where he closes the ambient room with a palate-cleansing space disco set, Zacharias values quality over quantity in his DJ bookings, and he consistently plays records that cause even the most itinerant record nerds to peer into the booth looking for an ID.
