On this Detroit special episode of the Bunker NY, Bryan Kasenic welcomes the New Jersey-born DJ and promoter Turtle Bugg (@kamekameha) for a chat and to showcase his selections. Turtle Bugg is an active organizer and noise-maker in the East Coast house-techno-and-beyond scene. He runs the Sublimate party with longtime collaborator Sagotsky, and in 2018 threw the first edition of Smangtasia, a weekender on a 400-acre farm in upstate New York that featured mostly all-American talent. His sound as a DJ is timeless, and he plays a deeply knowledgeable blend of house, funk, techno, ’80s gems, dub and more. In early 2018, Turtle Bugg uprooted from his longtime home in New York and relocated to Detroit — he and Bryan Kasenic will chat about the move and his new life in Detroit, and he’ll play a bunch of his finely curated picks.
