The teaching of church has turned somewhat from its beginnings. The focus has become one of self in many ways instead of being on the gifts of the Lord. We have self-improvement, self-enrichment, and self-works but little of God's true grace. When we learn the proper and biblical focus we will see the glory of the Lord.
