In the fifth book in the Charles Bloom Murder Mystery series....
Prehistoric pots worth millions hidden on a high cliff in Wupatki National Monument hold vital clues to prehistoric agriculture and migrations - and to Santa Fe art dealer Charles Bloom's own future. To ensure his family's safety, Bloom must uncover the meaning of a pot-hunter's plunder, expose an unethical international gallery owner, and solve a 1,000-year-old mystery that centers on his Canyon Road art gallery.
Unbeknownst to Bloom, Juan de Oñate's Santa Fe governorship 400 years earlier has seemingly unstoppable life-and-death implications for his wife, Navajo weaver Rachael Yellowhorse. For all to survive, Bloom and Lieutenant Billy Poh of the Santa Fe Police Department must come to grips with a historical quagmire and stop the cascade of atrocities from landing directly on Bloom's front porch.

One of the Best in the Series
This is another great book in the Charles Bloom Series. I would recommend all of the books in this series, especially if you like Santa Fe and the Southwest in general. You can tell the author knows his subject matter, especially Southwest Native American history/prehistory and art. There are a few minor mistakes or oversights in editing, but to me they did not detract from my enjoyment of the novel.
True contemporary southwest. All about the community of precious indigenous arts and crafts. Well written.
Weâre excessively fond of this Bloom series because itâs about our hometown (Santa Fe, NM). Bloom catches all the details just right. We enjoy the plots and sub-plots. Weâve visited most all the places he describes and met the same sorts of folks. True to life, down to earth, gripping. Worth reading them all, to get to know the characters. (Oh, and I especially like the harmonious and relevant photo placed at the beginning of each chapter.)
You can not take it with you
The butterfly twins are an intriguing mystery that tell the story of sacred Native American people . How they lived and how there remains can benefit all south west Tribes .
Unique Story
Spoiler alert - mother defends right for conjoined twin daughters to remain with tribe by focusing on their uniqueness being a blessing and not a curse. Interesting blend of storytelling set in the ancient and modern worlds.
Another Charles Bloom Mystery Masterpiece
I'm hooked. The Indian lady at the Toadlena Trading Post recommended Mark Sublett to me. This particular book - Butterfly Twins - was the 4th in the series that I've read and the best. Plot is intriguing a good convoluted trail through the mystery. Good historical references and his description of life in Santa Fe, NM, is so good, you can smell the Pinion smoke in the air.
