The Calisthenics Show - In this episode, I interview the living legend Eryc Ortiz, also as I call him the GODFATHER OF CALISTHENICS.
In 2006, Eryc Ortiz was just a preteenager – he wasn’t even into any sort of training or sport. He lived in Colombia, Valledupar together with his Father, two brothers, and sister. The parents divorced and his mother moved to Spain.

Back in 2012 Eryc was super skinny and wanted to change his body, he wanted to become a beast.
During this time in France, he didn’t know anything about Calisthenics. Eryc wanted to start training but couldn’t afford to join a gym, no job and no money to pay for it.
Close to his house, there was a park, in that park, you could find a running track. After finding this out, he started to run. Eryc can’t remind why he wanted to run, he had this strange feeling of the motivation of running.
That was his first fitness commitment.
The running track went around for 1 km, during his run he saw a Calisthenics Park beside the track. The small Calisthenics park contained a few pull-ups bar and dip bars. Eryc didn’t know what pull-ups or dips were, he just mined his own business and kept running. 1,5 months later, after been running consistently, he saw some people working out at this Calisthenics park. These people were massive guys with a lot of muscles doing pull-ups and dips.
Without stopping and asking them, Eryc just kept running because he was to shy to approach them.
One day he just had a feeling that he had to stop at the Calisthenics Park and try one pull-up.
Jumping up without thinking about how he should do it, he started to pull himself up. During the pull-up, something happened to his neck and he felt enormous pain. He let go of the bar and went home to recover from the pain.
Few weeks past by after that pull-up and that pain in the neck, but that would not stop him. Curious Eryc still went to the park again to try one more time, this time he had no pain. At this time he could only do half a pull-up, step by step he started to do more and more pull-ups.
