This Sunday, we will look into Luke 5:1-11, where Jesus is teaching by the Lake of Gennesaret, and a large crowd is listening to Him. He sees two boats by the shore, and He gets into one, belonging to Simon. Jesus asks him to put out a little from the land so He can continue teaching the crowd.
Afterward, Jesus tells Simon to "put out into deep water" and let down the nets for a catch. Despite having worked all night and caught nothing, Simon obeys and soon their nets are so full of fish that they begin to break. Simon, amazed, falls at Jesus' knees and says, "Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man."
Jesus reassures him, saying, "Don't be afraid; from now on you will be a fisher of men." Simon, along with James and John, leaves everything to follow Jesus.
