Calling is Christ-centered
Ephesians 1
3 – Blessed with every spiritual blessing In Christ
4 – God chose us in Christ before the foundation ….
5 – God predestined our adoption as sons through Jesus Christ
6 – God’s grace bestowed on us in the Beloved (Christ)
7 – In Christ we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins
9 – God made known the mystery, which He purposed in Him (Christ)
10 – The summing up of all things in Christ
11 – In Him (Christ) we have received an inheritance
12 – In Christ we would be to the praise of His glory
13 – In Him (Christ) we are sealed with the holy spirit of promise
Ephesians 2
5 – Made us alive together with Christ
6 – Raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly in Christ Jesus
7 – God in the ages to come might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus
10 – God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus
13 – In Christ Jesus brought near by the blood of Christ….
Isaiah 49:5 & 6 The calling has always been Christ-centered.
Ephesians 1:10 – The reference is to the unity which will hereafter exist in the Kingdom of God
Colossians 1:13-20 Everything is fixed in Christ.
Calling is Corporate
The election of Christ involves implicitly the election of the church, obviously; the corporate body of the elect is comprised of individuals. However, the election is primarily corporate and only secondarily individual. The New Testament comprehends believers, not in isolation, but as members of the body of the elect
Ephesians 1:1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12; 2:4, 5, 6, 7, 10, We are called together as a family, one body, a church, the holy temple.
Ephesians 1:22 and 23 Christ is the head; the church is his body.
Ephesians 2:13-16; 3:6-10 One body made up of all those who believe
3:18 – May be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth
4:1-4, 11-16; 25 The way God sees the church is one body.
Colossians 1:18; 2:17-19; 3:15
1Corinthians 12:12-27 The called out make up the body of Christ.
God’s call is for holiness
