In August 2018, Colorado man Chris Watts murdered his pregnant wife Shanann and their two young daughters, Bella and Celeste, motivated by an extramarital affair and a desire to escape his family life burying Shanann in a shallow grave and stuffing the girls' bodies into crude oil tanks at his workplace. He pleaded guilty to all charges in November 2018 and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
