The Guardian Quick crossword 16,722 appeared on Saturday 9 December. It produced a furious response from thwarted puzzlers. 
In this podcast, I start with a crossword clue of my own, which crossword addicts may able to solve immediately. Those who can’t will have a second chance at the end of the podcast, where its relevance will become obvious.
