Les filles à la cassette or the Casket Girls were a group of young girls and women sent to current day New Orleans to help populate the area.
The women arrived with pale skin, clutching their caskets, some with blood in their mouths. Soon after residents in the area became ill.
The luggage they carried may have brought more than just clothing.
