In this chapter, Holden heads to Greenwich village to visit a nightclub called Ernie’s a Spot he used to frequent with D. B. His taxi driver is called Horwitz, and Holden seems to take a liking to him. But when Holden asks him about the ducks, he becomes angry. At Ernie’s Holden listens to the piano, but is unimpressed with it, and the “phonies” who love all of the fancy licks Ernie is playing. An obnoxious girl named Lilliam Simmons who used to date his brother D. B. shows up, and he leaves to avoid talking to her.
