We get an opportunity to talk to three cast members and the director of the Central Wisconsin Children’s Theatre production of “The Lady Pirates of Captain Bree” that stages this weekend at the UWSP at Wausau Veniga Theater. Director Suzanne Stoltze and cast members Madelyn Flees, Mason Cooper and Madi Tatro discuss the show, the challenges, the fun and more. We are joined by cast members of the Central Wisconsin Educational Theatre Alliance (CWETA) production of “Shrek: The Musical” that opens this Thursday at the Wausau West HS Auditorium. Drake Hoffman, Catherine Harmon and Rowan Lammert discuss the show, their parts in the production and more. The show runs this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7 pm with a Sunday matinee at 1:30 pm and again with the same schedule next week. We also hear our discussion with Brenton Kneiss about the Wausau Conservatory of Music Gala coming in early March.

In the first hour we find out what is happening at the Grand Theater with Executive Director Sean Wright. Down to about 100 days until the major renovation of the Grand will begin but, until then, still plenty of great shows coming like “Mrs. Doubtfire” for two shows a week from Saturday.

We also discuss Donald Trump’s endorsement of Michael Alfonso in the Republican primary for the 7th Congressional District seat being vacated by Tom Tiffany. The 25 year old Alfonso has limited professional experience and none politically other than being the son-in-law of former Congressman Sean Duffy. That is leading to some backlash from the right.

Rupert Murdoch’s right-wing media empire is encouraging Donald Trump to back off the ICE presence in Minnesota. Members of the MAGA “new” media is urging the opposite. WSAU’s Chris Conley is with the far right and urges “no retreat”. We disagree with that.

In hour 2 we are joined by Sean Wright, Executive Director of the Grand Theater in Wausau to discuss the upcomings shows and Second Century campaign. Also, a rebuttal to comments made by a morning show host down the street concerning the ICE role in Minneapolis.

We are also joined in studio by Yee Leng Xiong, candidate for state treasurer, D.C. Everest School Board member and supervisor on the Marathon County board. We discuss his statewide race, why the state treasurer position is important, school issues and more.

It’s another cold Monday and we start by discussing the news of the weekend, which was the killing of a VA nurse by ICE agents in Minneapolis. Immediately following the tragedy, members of the federal government attempted to pass along false information that was contradicted by the video of the incident. They lied.

In the third and fourth segments of the first hour we are joined by state Representative Francesca Hong, who is running for the Democratic nomination for Governor in 2026. We discuss how she would deal with a federal government that uses threats against states to get their way, her plans for rural areas on Wisconsin, education, health care, her budget priorities and more.
