The challenge of working with severely degraded human remains: An FBI Visiting Scientist Program conversation

Listen Later

The FBI Visiting Scientist Program is one of many research participation programs managed by ORISE. The FBI Visiting Scientist Program is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for early career scientists and recent graduates to participate in forensic science research at the FBI Laboratory, one of the largest and most comprehensive crime labs in the world. In this conversation, host Michael Holtz talks to Cody Parker of the FBI Laboratory's DNA support unit, which is a research-based and intelligence-based unit where new methods are tested and validated for getting DNA from particularly challenging samples. He specializes in dealing with severely degraded human remains, like really old or severely burnt bones.
