Award-winning horror producer, writer, director, and FX legend Joe Castro enters The Chamber to discuss the latest entry in his unpredictable and disturbing franchise, TERROR TOONS 4. We talk about breaking into the business via the sitcom ROSEANNE, his views on the tightly knit FX community and how reality television played a part in unraveling it, some of the names he's worked with and films on his resume that you have enjoyed (or should go enjoy!), how both the visceral and the unexplained play their part in great horror, and his best advice for aspiring artists.
On this episode of THE CHAMBER, Brodie Hubbard talks with filmmaker Ben Woodiwiss (“Benny Loves Killing”). They discuss formative horror and cinema experiences, working for Troma and meeting Lloyd Kaufman, the difficulty of getting movies made, working with children across international borders to teach them filmmaking, revisiting classic slasher franchises and navigating their continuities, and more!
This week, THE CHAMBER welcomes Troy Escamilla. He is the writer and director of PARTY NIGHT, MRS. CLAUS, and TEACHER SHORTAGE, as well as a director of the Houston Horror Film Festival, and co-host of DARK NIGHT OF THE PODCAST. He has launched an Indiegogo campaign for his next film, HOLLOW LAKE. We discuss the state of indie horror fundraising, filmmaking, and distribution, as well as LGBTQIA+ representation in the horror genre.

This week, THE CHAMBER welcomes Kristin Garth, a poet and prose writer from Pensacola, Florida. Her work covers dark territory about sex workers, the men who try to possess them, and other sketchy and scary happenings in the American underbelly. This discussion runs the gamut from terror to true crime, examining not only Garth’s work, but the type of real life horror that inspires everything from Ti West’s X, PEARL, and MAXXXINE, to FREEWAY (1996) or BARBARIAN, to Aron Beauregard’s viral extreme horror lit hit PLAYGROUND. But no spoilers here as we delve into Garth’s new collection DADDY, coming soon from Anxiety Press, and her previous book YOU DON’T WANT THIS. Some trigger warnings ahead though, as we talk about the trauma of abuse and assault, murder and violence, and real life figures like Jared Fogle, the Menendez Brothers, and Mark Salling, along with their crimes.
