October 1905, in York, South Carolina.
At 19 Nellie married 23-year-old Alton Reid Freeman on
19 December 1925, in Charlotte, North Carolina,
After five months of marriage, Alton was done. He was
leaving. Packing up some of his stuff, He
told Nellie he was leaving. Six days before Christmas. That's when it all went bad.
