“When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile” ~Regina Brett~~ You can say that again. We are walking towards a sweet, nutty smell with a hint of coffee? Or is it notes of floral? Vanilla? somewhere nearby in the city of Valletta, Malta. The street is busy; it’s Christmastime, after all, and everyone is out shopping for last-minute gifts to bring home, wrap, and place with care under the tree. We can hear live music on the corner, the chatter of friends talking as they wander in and out of specialty shops, and the blast of a car horn warning pedestrians to get out of the way. For some unknown reason, we stop, turn, and there it is, smack-dab in front of us. An open doorway beckons a trio of weary travel writers, inviting us to tread downstairs into a cellar-like, Ali-baba cave, where we see, smell, and can almost taste chocolate – such a welcome assault on the senses.
