Becoming rewired wasn't just an option for me, it was a must.  Two years ago today, I journaled a plan to take my life if I didn't get answers in Minnesota at the doctors I was going to.  It has been a long journey these last two years that have resulted in a new me.  I have realized that I had a life, but I was not living.  Now, I work on becoming rewired and live each day with intention.

My name is Paula Walters.&nbsp; I am a&nbsp; national keynote speaker, a paramedic with 20 years of experience in the field, and a fierce advocate for those who have suffered child abuse, intimate partner violence, and traumatic brain injury.I am a survivor of child abuse, sexual assault, and intimate partner violence. I also survived a near-fatal strangulation which left her with a Traumatic Brain Injury.In 2015, drawing upon her life experiences, I became determined to raise awareness of this critical issue with first responders, healthcare professionals, and those working with abused and marginalized populations.I&nbsp; have become a trusted and expert source on the psychological, physical, and invisible impacts from traumatic abuse.&nbsp; I am passionate about bridging the gaps between the legal and medical systems and the survivors they interact with.After an excruciating thirteen-year journey of medical mayhem, My amazing story of strength, courage, and recovery has been shared nationally to highlight the intersections of Intimate Partner Violence and Traumatic Brain Injury.
