Where in life are you now facing a choice between God's way and the wrong way? This is exactly the predicament that Solomon finds himself in. When Solomon first ascended to Israel's throne, God appeared to him at Gibeon and gave him the opportunity of a lifetime. The king could ask for anything he wanted, and God would give it to him. Wisely, Solomon chose wisdom.
 
But it's not enough just to make the right choice once. Wise people, keep continuing to make wise choices, over and over and over again. Now, it was time for Solomon to choose again, and then to keep on choosing wisely and correctly. We desperately need God's wisdom to make the correct choices in our lives. The good news is that if any of us lacks wisdom, the Bible calls us to ask God, and He will give it to us, generously and ungrudgingly (James 1:5). 

Solomon was a smashing success in every which way. But he still had to continue to make the right decisions in order to be blessed by God. The good news of the gospel is not that you are constantly making good decisions, wise decisions, that will ultimately give you will have a much better life. The good news of the gospel is that God is still going to love you and care for you, in spite of the myriad of bad, unwise decisions, that you will continue to make.
