Peter was writing to Christians who were living in a hostile world, much like we do today. In this section, he provides an invaluable answer to how we are to live as we wait for Jesus' return: we must rest in our identity with God and each other, and pursue His mission of worshiping God and declaring His worth to others.

Big Idea: As God’s chosen exiles, Christ sets our identity and mission in this broken world.

  1. We are Living Stones in God's temple, being built by Him for worship (4-5)
  • We are set on Christ the Rock, trusting Him to share His security and honor (6-8)
  • We are God's Precious People, embraced by Him to declare His excellencies (9-10)
