Bio: Kezia A. Snipe, a Memphis native, credits God and writing for saving her life. After receiving a journal from her Godmother at age 7, Kezia finally believed she'd found the space to express herself and record her thoughts. The first thing she ever wrote ended up rhyming and nearly 30 years later, poetry is still her outlet. A textbook introvert, Kezia didn't initially jump at the chance to be part of her high school's speech and drama but after a conversation with her would-be drama coach & mentor Ms. Louise Bennett (R.I.L.), Kezia took the leap that would eventually propel her into spoken word poetry. Kezia has been an active spoken word artist professionally for 15 years. She has traveled from coast to coast sharing her work and has released three spoken word albums, a collaborative poetry book, and a personal poetry anthology. She currently resides on the East Coast and is active in community, the arts, and youth advocacy. We are excited to discuss the release of her first children's book and 4th spoken word album, girls & elephants. - Instagram: @heytherekezia | Website: heytherekezia.com
