A few events are said to be the end of the innocence of American citizens; the JFK assassination and the Church Committee. The Church Committee was Congress' investigation of the intelligence agencies. This nearly two year investigation resulted in the uncovering of human experimentation programs and surveillance programs that were targeted against American citizens. The unveiling of these programs, exposed many Americans to how twisted their government can be. Frank Church, the Senator who was head of the committee, warned the American public on Meet The Press about how dangerous it was for the intelligence agencies to have this type of power, and how it can lead to a tyrannical government.

Fast forward to today, Elon Musk bought Twitter and he exposed how the intelligence agencies were working with Twitter to surveil citizens and how the White House was able to effect an election, and to completely control the narrative on COVID 19. Many are calling for a Church Committee style of investigation into the Twitter Files.
