As we approach this fourth church in the series of the seven churches of Revelation. As with all of these churches johns writings open right up to the point leaving no drought as to who the true author of this letter to the Church at Thyatira really is. The Church of Thyatira was situated in a valley at the halfway point between Pergamum and Sardis the Church we will look at next time. Thyatira was a city which due to its location had no natural defenses available. A city which was destroyed and rebuilt many times originally populated by Soldiers as it came into existence as an outpost designed to guard Pergamum. Thyatira became a very wealthy town dealing in the textile trade, bronze armor and was the home of the first known Christian convert in Europe a woman of business the seller of the color purple yes it was the home of Lydia came to Christ under Paul's ministry and is mentioned in Acts 16-14-15.--14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us- whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul. 15 And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us.
