The message this week comes from Palm Sunday’s sermon, taken from Luke 19:28-44. We all know the image of Palm Sunday: Jesus riding into Jerusalem as the crowds cheer and lay down palms and cloaks for Jesus to ride over. We often talk about this day as one of victory and joy, when the people of Jerusalem finally worshipped Jesus. Yet the scriptures tell us that Jesus wept over the city and decried its citizens. Why does Jesus feel such sorrow in the middle of such joy? Today, Pastor David Cartwright suggests that Jesus mourned that the people just didn’t get what was really happening and encourages us to try and get what is happening today amid this global pandemic.
