A 67-verse list of names doesn’t sound like a sermon highlight, but Ezra 2 refuses to be background noise. We read the census in full, then slow down to ask what God is doing through all that detail and why Scripture includes passages that challenge our attention. A pagan king funds the rebuilding of God’s temple and somehow that’s exactly the point.
