The Clean Air Act is a significant piece of legislation in the United States for combating air pollution emissions. As such, there's some tension between it and the car enthusiast community. There are groups that fear the EPA will use the Clean Air Act to essentially eradicate the aftermarket car enthusiast industry and community, and have proposed some legislation to protect certain aspects of car culture in the form of the Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports Act.
