EuroMed Standing Watch

The climate situation is chaotic in Tunisia

Listen Later

It has become a public concern that our summers get hotter, that snow in our mountains becomes rarer, that some animal species are at risk of extinction. Climate change is now part of our daily lives, and worrying youth generations about their future.

“Make our planet great again”, “our future in your hands”… For the past three years these signs have emerged in the streets all around the world. Youth for climate, an international youth-led movement, seeks to limit the consequences of the climate and biodiversity crises. In North African countries like Tunisia, the concrete consequences of climate change are already visible and directly impact human rights.

For this new episode of EuroMed Standing Watch, we met Yousr Krid, 23 years old and member of Youth for Climate Tunisia since its creation, in 2019. She is a human rights and climate activist, and explains how climate change directly affects human rights in Tunisia.
