Hello , i hope u’ll doing good, in today’s episode of medic pode we gonna talk about the clinical depression.

Depression is more than just feeling sad, almost everyone feels down from time to time but clinical depression is different it won’t go away just because you want it to ,it lingers for at least two consecutive weeks .

Depression is a common and serious medical illness that can negatively affect how you feel ,the way you think and how you act .but fortunately, it’s treatable

Depression symptoms are :

* Sadness .

* Anger .

* Guilt .

* Hopelessness .

* Social withdrawal .

* Lack of energy .

* Low motivation.

* Poor concentration.

* Sleep problems.

* Significant changes in appetite .

* Poor self-esteem .

* Thoughts of suicide .

* Loss of interest .

If you have at least 5 of these symptoms according to psychiatric guidelines you qualify for a diagnosis of depression.

Also there is physical symptoms of depression inside the brain these include smaller frontal lobes and hippocampal volumes .

What’s in our heads isn’t imaginary,our thought, feelings and behaviour are influenced by a complexe series of chemicals in our brain especially serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine.

The exact causes of depression are poorly understood, but we have an idea about facteurs that influence the illness ( the change of hormones in the brain that called neurotransmitters that’s why many medications used in the treatment of depression works by increasing the levels of these neurotransmitters ) also this illness is genetic so people who have familiar history of depression more likely to experience this disease .

Of course the environment play a major role in depression (living in poverty, experiencing a traumatic events or other stressful situations can be a cause of that )but sometimes the person who have depression don’t understand why he feels down .

The treatment for depression usually includes both of cycle therapy and medications .
