Mount Washington became the location of one of the deadliest accidents in American Railroad history in 1967. Home to the world's first Cog Railway, a routine descent turned catastrophic when the locomotive left the tracks, sending a passenger car full of tourists into a terrifying runaway ride down one of the steepest railroad grades in the world.
