The Collins 821A-1: Collins' Largest A.M. Broadcast Shortwave Transmitter (Dennis Kidder/W6DQ) - Part 2

In 1964, the Voice of America (VOA) commissioned Collins Radio to build three of its largest transmitters. The 821-A1 was capable of transmitting an impressive 250 KW A.M. between 3.95 and 26.5 MHz during the Cold War from the VOA relay site in DeLano, CA. Dennis Kidder/W6DQ, Secretary of the Collins Collectors Assoc, talked about the 821-A1 during his virtual 2020 Ham Radio Expo talk. This is our second and last excerpt from his presentation (used by permission).
