Just as Jesus brought himself willingly to the Cross, let us hang our flesh on that cross and let go of sin. Some things are easier to give up, some things are unexpectedly gone, and some things seem to keep coming back up. For me, It is the loss of my voice and sense of reasoning in the light. I get clouded in my mind and my eyes won't see the good.
My kid's got a book called "Pete the Cat and His Magic Sunglasses" By Kimberly and James Dean. The story follows Pete who is given this pair of glasses that allow him to shift his perspective from gloomy to sunny. He puts them on and realizes "The birds are singing. The sky is bright. The sun is shining. I'm feeling ALRIGHT!" He walks around letting others animals who he notices are mad or sad try the glasses on and they shift their perspective as well. Eventually, he falls and the glasses break and the Wise owl tells Pete "You don't need Magic Sunglasses to see things in a new way. Just remember to look for the good in every day." Pete looked around without the glasses and noticed the owl was right!
This is how I want to view the day when I am stuck in a gloomy mood but, I make it difficult the shift gears. However, I have noticed when I speak to God as if he is a Dr. right beside me, it helps me find relief. When I ask for help from God, I have been given what I need.
