Irish film maker and director Johnny O`Reilly has spent over 12 years living and working between Russia and Ireland . He joined Mario this morning to take a look at the bizarre and intriguingly interesting story of the comedian who has just been elected president in Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelensky is said scored a landslide victory in the presidential election in Ukraine, so how did it all begin and who is this comedian?

Zelensky who is completely new to politics seemingly planned this outcome by starring in a satirical TV series "Servant of The People" in which his character accidentally becomes Ukrainian president.

A decisive day for Ukraine. Free elections and peaceful change of power = strong Ukrainian democracy. Congratulations to Volodymyr Zelensky. The EU is determined to continue its support.

It is a bizzare turn of events but reflects the dissatisfaction the people of Ukraine had with the current government. They are reported to have become  frustrated with the corruption and oligarchs of Ukraine. The people have voted and we will just have to watch what happens from here!
