The Corner Blitz

MOAR STATE CHAMPIONS. Lincoln County produced enough varsity golfers who won state titles in 2026 we had to have two radio shows to get them all. This week, we talk to Bogue Chitto sophomore Gage Wisinher, the MHSAA 1A individual state golf champion, and his best bro Sherman Hyer from West Lincoln, who finshed third in state. Their coaches — Amanda and Luke Moak, and Ben Huey, respectively — pick up the mic and keep their boys on task. Bradley, Benji and Adam also talk about the College Football Playoffs and the committee's thumb on the scale.

The Loyd Star girls golf team has gone back-to-back for state titles, while the boys team has gone back-to-back-to-back. The Corner Blitz is getting pretty accustomed to seeing these hermanos y hermanas. Coach Jonathan Breakfield is on the show with his golfers: Kaylin Hester, Camille Creel, Phillip Ross Spencer, Bentley Ferguson and Brooklyn Lee. They tell us all about their two championship days on the green, smack-talking etiquette in golf, and potential new boyfriends from all the way up in Baldwyn.

Benjie, Bradley and Adam also talk about MAIS reclassification and the incredible soft, downy attitude of Pat McAfee.

Basketball season is here! What better way to get in the zone than with the Parklane Lady Pioneers. Head coach Vicki Rutland is on the show with assistant coach Tammy Gillihan and five of the Lady Pioneers — team captain Lexi Lott (Sr.), Lay Jackson (Jr.), Mady Rayborn (Jr.), Brenley Caston (Jr.), and Kilanah Haynes (So.). Benji and Adam take the Parklane girls through the highs and lows of basketball, and we also prepare for the end of the JUCO football season (sad face), celebrate the first spin of the 2026 college football coaching carousel, and wonder how in the world Jalen Hurts was cleared to play (and didn't die).

Here come them Trojans. Undefeated thus far and outscoring opponents 274-12, what other football team would you want to hang out with? Top that with Friday night's matchup, when these guys travel to Wesson to take on the also-undefeated Cobras in the biggest battle in all of MHSAA 2A football. Coach Sedric Cain breaks down the snakes, and we get to meet Trojan playmakers Darien Tolliver (Sr.), Keegan Handy (Sr.), Kevin Bailey (Sr.), Kemari Thompson (So.) and Jacoby Roberts (So.). Benji and Adam also talk about the madness that has overcome LSU and Will Wade's desire to have all the NBA on his roster.

Assistant coach Amber Beall joins the HC, along with sophomores Lily Crum, Annie Poole, Landry Loper and Ayari VanBlaircom, all sporting their blinging NJCAA Region 23 Championship rings from the 50-win season (with national tournament appearance) last spring. Coach Howard and the girls break it all down, from the freshman jitters to the 20-win streak to the nicknames and superstitions. It's tennis time on The Corner Blitz. Friend-of-the-show Dean Clower, the Southwest Mississippi Community College tennis coach, is entering Year Three of a program rebuild and the joint is trending upward. This week he's on the radio to tell us about it, along with three of his Bears — sophomore Luca Cividini (Argentina), Paula Tornos (Spain), and Chloe Sterling (West Lincoln). This was a great interview, and the student-athletes really gave us some insight into their lives.
