In 1804, the United States embarked on a journey that would not only provide knowledge about a vast unknown territory but also lay the groundwork for its westward expansion. This was the Corps of Discovery Expedition, a monumental expedition launched by President Thomas Jefferson with the goal of exploring the uncharted lands west of the Mississippi River.
