Following the withdrawal of US troops after 20 years, Taliban troops have seized control of Afganistan.  On today’s two part show, we trace the financial cost of the US occupation in Afganistan with Andrew Cockburn, and discuss the human cost of war with Matthew Hoh.
Andrew Cockburn is the Washington Editor of Harper’s Magazine. His latest book Spoils of War: Power, Profit and the American War Machine out in September. Cockburn recently wrote the piece “How the U.S. military got rich from Afghanistan” for The Spectator.
Matthew Hoh is a senior fellow with the Center for International Policy and a member of the Eisenhower Media Network (EMN). He is a 100% disabled Marine combat veteran and, in 2009, he resigned his position with the State Department in Afghanistan in protest of the escalation of the war. He recently wrote the pieces “
