Critic Reviews:
"This is historical romance at its best." (Lancashire Evening Post)

compelling the a good read
I quite liked this, I knew a bit about the meiji restoration, but history is written by the winners and the story that I knew was of the southern clans. this is about the northerners and their bid to hang on to their shogun and the struggles that both men and women went through. the writing is not brilliant, its just missing that extra wow factor that you get when you read someone truly good at what they do. but worth the read nonetheless.
Wonderful book
I am only 1/2 through this book but it is very interesting. Good story line. I ordered my book and had it within 5 days so
the customer service was great....
Five Stars

Good boolk
Well written by a great author. I am looking forward to more work from this author. This author is one of my favorites.
Reads like a harlequin
This novel had a great amount of potential, it was well researched and had a good premise. The romance seemed to be what ruined it. Characters, once the romance was introduced, became less historically accurate. Up until when the lovers meet, the main characters were more believable. The gratuitous sex scenes were also a little too much. The level of detail included added nothing to the story. Overall, very disappointed as the book should have been much better.
