Okay, so I saw the most interesting thing at the airport. I was walking laps at the gate getting my steps in while Kendel was hanging out, and all of a sudden I hear a harmonica. At first, I thought it was coming through the intercom…..like part of the boarding music or something. But then I realized… no, this was live.
I look over and there’s this older gentleman, maybe 70 or 75, cowboy hat, boots, dressed sharp but very much a cowboy vibe. And he’s just rocking out on the harmonica. At first, I thought people might be annoyed, but no—he was actually really good. Everyone started watching him. He finished a song, people cheered, and he just kept going.
This guy had four harmonicas lined up on his carry on and was switching them mid-song like a total pro. Someone walked up, dropped a dollar in his hat, and then more people started giving. Pretty soon it turned into this little airport concert. People were taking videos, clapping along….it was awesome!
And here’s the kicker: he was just a passenger on our plane. Not a performer, not scheduled entertainment. Just a dude with a harmonica and the courage to share it.
And that hit me. That level of courage….to just put yourself out there, not knowing if people will love it or be annoyed….that’s inspiring. Most people would hold back. But he didn’t, and it turned into a moment of magic.
It made me think: if we’ve got skills, gifts, or something to share, isn’t it kind of our responsibility to put them out into the world? To take that leap of courage? Because when you do, more often than not, something amazing happens.
So yeah, shoutout to the cowboy harmonica man. You made my day…..and reminded me that courage creates connection.
