The Context of White Supremacy hosts our Friday weekly forum on neutralizing Workplace Racism. The unprecedented, indefinite, all-encompassing, global shutdown in response to the coronavirus continues to devour spring, the calendar year. Workers across the united states report unsafe conditions, a lack of training to maintain safety given the new health hazards, and a lack of protective equipment. Amazon employees in the U.S. and abroad, as well as Instacart workers are organizing work stoppages to demand safer work conditions while the pandemic rages on. We'll ask C.O.W.S. listeners if their employers are demonstrating the highest regard for the health and well being of all staff and clients. A number of listeners reported sneezing, wheezing, and coughing colleagues who were allowed to remain at work - a potential vector for contagion. We'll discuss possible amendments for workplace code under these incredible days. If you're being allowed to work from home, we'll see how folks are adjusting to not having to commute to the office. Some have reported working remotely means that supervisors require many more phone check-ins to ensure that workers are on task when out of sight.
