Welcome back to another episode of the Let's Talk About It podcast with your host, Teresa Nieves. This episode features a special guest: writer, artist, poet, educator, speaker, podcaster, and entrepreneur Cindy Ingram.
In this episode Teresa and Cindy explore neurodivergence and talk about Cindy’s journey from being in debt & not having the physical stamina she needed in order to live the adventurous life she craved and how she recalibrated her circumstances to support the vision she had for her life.
Cindy shares three pivotal turning points in her story and she and Teresa dive deeper into the Cindy’s writing & artistic processes that ultimately led to the publication of her new memoir: Art is About Being Whole.
Cindy reveals that it was through her own art she would be able to help herself heal and how the process of creating art taught her more than the finished product.
Teresa and Cindy discuss limiting beliefs when it comes to being creative & perfectionism in art vs letting art just be what it is and using creativity to connect experiences in order to make new ideas and so much more.
More about Cindy:
Cindy is a writer, artist, poet, educator, speaker, podcaster, and entrepreneur. Connecting with works of art and crafting innovative learning activities are her superpowers, and she has dedicated her life to bringing the magic of art connection to others. A former art museum educator and art teacher with a B.A. in Art History from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.A. in Art Education from the University of North Texas, Cindy has supported teachers and their students through her work as founder and CEO of Art Class Curator since 2014.
She is passionate about taking art out of dark, stuffy lecture halls and out of the pretentious gatekeeping of “fine art” and into the hearts, minds, and lives of everyone and measures her success with the volume of tears shed.
