The Cross and the Crown (Part 1 of 2)

Listen Later

The cross is an emblem of Jesus' sacrifice. The power of God is represented by the cross of salvation. Mat 16 tells us that we also have a cross to bear. The cross was not Jesus' to bear but our sins, but He bore them for all. Just because you might be sick or worried is not a cross to bear for Christ but a general ailment because we are human. The cross we must bear is of that after salvation, the flesh wants what the spirit can't have. It's a constant battle that is never ending being a child of God. How many are ashamed of their salvation hiding it from others? Is it a burden, no, it's a purpose from Christ. Each child of God has their own cross that they must bear and can only be carried by themselves. Why do we need a cross? It will keep one humbled. It was beyond the cross of Calvary that kept Jesus motivated. The cross will keep one to praying. Jesus prayed before in the garden because of the cross and what was to come. The cross has multiple purposes but the things of the flesh we should crucify daily. We should take those sins and fleshly wants to the cross and crucify them. So not only is the cross an emblem to the world of the power of God but it's also a help in the very time of need in removing fleshly wants. We should be giving ourselves as a living sacrifice. Too many people want to classify themselves as a Christian on Sunday but live like the world all the other days. A cross hung around ones neck is just a piece of jewelry and can't and won't make one a Christian. The cross is the belief that Jesus Christ hung and died for your sins.
