The Cross: "Shove It" - 35 Years On

As the mid-to-late 1980’s brought about an end to Queen’s touring due to the health of lead singer Freddie Mercury, there was more spare time on the hands of all four members of the band, and in the case of two of them in particular, they began to dabble in their own side projects once again. In particular, it was drummer Roger Taylor who had been the most prolific in this regard in the past, having put out two previous solo albums. And it was Taylor again who stretched beyond the band’s boundaries late into the decade.
He formed a band that he called The Cross, and 35 years ago this week they released their debut album titled “Shove It”, and album that may have had some influences from his main gig but definitely kept its distance from their own agenda. And this album is the focus of today’s episode.
