In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve weren't really tempted to eat an apple. They were tempted to become like God by providing for, protecting, and empowering themselves.

Jesus faced these same temptations in the wilderness but chose a different path. His "foolish" refusal to seize control shows us that when we put God first, we discover a deeper wisdom than the world's pursuit of power and self-reliance.
